About Quick Goal Seek

Quick Goal Seek is a Google Sheets™ add-on that helps you calculate the required value in one cell to achieve a desired result in another cell.
With just a few clicks, you can set:

• Set Cell → The cell containing the formula you want to achieve the target for

• By Changing Cell → The cell you want to adjust 

• Target Value → The desired result

Installation Guide

Follow these steps to install Quick Goal Seek:

1. Open Google Sheets™ 

2. Go to Extensions → Quick Goal Seek → Start

3. Enter the following inputs: 

   • Set Cell → The cell with the formula or result 

   • By Changing Cell → The variable cell you want to modify 

   • Target Value → The value you want the formula to achieve

4. Click on Solve 

5. The add-on will automatically calculate and update the value 

Troubleshooting

1. The Add-on is not showing up after installation

   • Refresh the Google Sheets™ page. 

   • Check under Extensions → Quick Goal Seek. 

2. The solver is not working

   • Make sure the Set Cell contains a valid formula

   • Ensure the By Changing Cell has numeric values

   • Check if circular references exist; fix them if needed

3. Authorization errors

   • Go to https://myaccount.google.com/permissions 

   • Remove Quick Goal Seek and reinstall it

1. Is my data safe?

Yes ✅ — Quick Goal Seek only processes data within your Google Sheets™. No information is stored or shared externally. 

2. Do I need coding knowledge?

No. The add-on provides a simple, user-friendly sidebar. 

3. Why does the add-on need permissions?

Permissions are required to read and update the Google Sheets™ and show the sidebar UI.

4. How do I uninstall Quick Goal Seek?

   • Go to Google Sheets™ → Extensions → Manage add-ons

   • Click Quick Goal Seek → Uninstall

5. The Solve button is disabled. Why? 

Ensure Set Cell, By Changing Cell, and Target Value are filled. 

6. Can I use Quick Goal Seek on shared sheets?

Yes, if you have edit access
